Ported and polished AUDI VW SEAT 1.9 TDI head. Professionally ported head for street or race applications, suitable for high power projects. Each head is flow tested on Flowbench, customer will be provided with exact CFM numbers based on valve lift. Ported, corrected, enlarged and polished inlet ports. Intake port is increased in all its lengths, all unnecessary sharp corners and casts have been smoothened out to give the intake port better shape, matched intake near the intake flange.
A special attention have been made to intake runner swirl pot which have less aggressive shape to improve airflow numbers, but still the original intake port design is unchanged. Ported and corrected exhaust ports. Exhaust port is increased in all its lengths, especially near the exhaust flange where the stock TDI head is a true bottle neck for high power outputs. Grinded and shaped valve seats to increase air flow (each valve is vacuum tested to ensure perfect valve seat lock). New OEM 7mm valve guides (from AFN engine). Ends of the valve guides have been shaped to achieve smooth air flow near the valve guide area. Heads are milled for flatness and a surface finish. Head porting is provided partly on CNC (intake, exhaust sides and near the valve seats) surface is finished by hand to give the desired surface smoothness. Heads are pressure tested twice before and after porting with 6 bar pressure to detect any possible cracks or leaks in head.

Stock ported 1.9TDI intake manifold is a good solution, just make sure that intake runners in the head is NOT larger than intake manifold runners. Therefore we recommend porting of intake manifold. Any aftermarket custom made large runner intake manifold is acceptable. Is the head suitable for any piston bore size? Yes, but we need to know that, as in porting of head touch to details is very important.

Any head porter will tell you that larger port will give greater CFM measurements, but I as a experienced professional, know that head porting is not only about the size of ports. The most important parameter is effectiveness of ports. Chart shows that, for example, at 1 mm to 2 mm valve lift (very small flow area) ported intake port is 39-33% more effective than stock.
This is because of perfectly developed runner shape, valve job and combustion chamber improvement. In the range of 4 mm to 5 mm valve lift, as the port area enlarges, porting effect will fade a little and provide only 8-10% gain. This is because any port, even extremely bad one, can flow at this level of CFM. However, as the CFM rises together with valve lift, runner shape, surface and size start to take effect, resulting in very serious improvement. Your head flows bad (unbelievably well), other head porters in web claim greater (or less) CFM test results? In many year head porting experience I have come to conclusion that flow charts that are not made on one flow bench in identical conditions are not comparable in their absolute values. This is because of many external factors that influence the result temperature of environment, air and test piece, humidity, absolute pressure, flow bench calibration, etc. Similarly internal factors, like shape of piston bore adapters and intake and exhaust flanges (if used), can significantly affect the results. But how to compare those head flow numbers/charts? The porter must provide you with CMF data before and after porting, so that you would be able to compare the gain. There is no value for results only after porting. At first, you should compare the data for flow of stock un-ported heads between different flow benches. This will give you a view on flow bench specific CFM measurements and will help you to compare ported CFM gains. Improvement data in percents based on valve lift values is very informative. What will be the power gain to my car?Everybody likes to make some claims about horsepower improvement and power gain. But not in this case, as we all understand, that improvement will be individual depending on engine setup intake, exhaust manifolds, camshafts, turbo, ECU etc. , but improvement will be noticeable even on near to stock car, however ported head will give more power gain on already upgraded engines where stock head start to "breathe out". Experience show that stock head limit is something around 230-250HP, if You desire to make more on your project, head must be properly ported.
