2000-05 VW MK4 02J Jetta Golf GTI Manual 5-Speed Shifter Cable M/T Boot VR6 TDI. This shifter box, knob, boot, cables and mount bracket were carefully removed from a 2000 MK4 Volkswagen Golf fitted with a 02J 5-speed manual transmission. This listing includes mounting hardware. Part number on the shifter clip is 1J0 711 565.
Part number on the cable sleeve is 1J0 711 266 E. This shifter assembly has been inspected and greased. The original ball joint bushing has been shimmed to ensure proper motion with minimal slop in the main ball joint (most common failure mode). The cable casings and crimped ends are in good functional condition.
The rubber outer sleeves have deteriorated some from oil contamination and but are still on the cable casings. The cable ends, shifter box and lower cover have some minor corrosion from age but still work as they should. The OEM shift knob and boot are in good functional condition with only minor wear. Note: MK4 VW Beetles use a different shift knob and boot.
This assembly is a significant upgrade from the MK3 and early Mk4 shifter assemblies. Note: retrofitting MK3 and early MK4 models will also require updated shift tower, pendulum and couplers.
