1999 Vw Volkswagen Golf Gt Tdi Mk4
1999 VW Golf GT TDI. Mot'd until November 2017. For sale is my MK4 Golf GT TDI, of which i have owned for 4 years. During my ownership it's been a good reliable car and never let me down. Overall the condition is ok and i'll be as honest as i can. There is a few marks & scratches here and there, with some stone chips at the front. There is a small dent on the drivers side rear arch and rust scabs below the boot lock handle. The interior is good but could do with a good clean/valet. In my ownership i fitted the 18 Audi RS4 alloys and had the engine remapped in July 2016 by Layton remaps.
I has a stage 1 remap, increasing the BHP to 140 and torque to 220 ft/lbs. The difference in performance compared to a standard GT TDI is quite significant, it really takes off once you get into 3rd gear and above. I've also fitted an aftermarket CD player (original VW one is included with 6 disc changer) and put in a nice set in GT TDI floor mats & boot mat. The previous owner re-trimmed the headlining in the grey tartan fabric (looks nice and always gets compliments from passengers), i then fitted the boot badge to match this.Mechanically the car is good and runs well. I have carried out any service & repair work myself and done as follows. Replaced the n/s & o/s front wishbones. Both rear shock absorbers and one rear spring, n/s front wheel bearing and cv joint gaiter.
New battery fitted Nov 2014. New brake discs and pads front and rear May 2016. New Power steering rack and both track rod ends fitted October 2016. I have serviced the car each year myself (oil & filter change) but have not kept any receipts for this.As with most cars there are a few'bad bits'. The central locking doesn't work on the key fob, i believe this is due to the drivers door locking module being faulty? It does work however, if you put the key in the lock and do it manually (you have to then put the key in the ignition first before opening any other door, otherwise the alarm goes off). The boot doesn't open with the central locking so it has to be unlocked with the key. The ABS light sometimes comes on but it seems to do this only when the car isn't used to a few days. I assumed this was due to rust possibly forming on one of the ABS sensors but i never investigated this.
Overall it's a good car that could do with a bit of time spent on it to make it 100% again. Open to any sensible offers. The item "1999 VW VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GT TDI MK4" is in sale since Thursday, March 09, 2017.
